Rare red velvet…. maybe there is some red in her lips.
eek! it’s a purple drag fairy in a purple wicker basket
Lets start off on the wrong (Nude) foot.
Powell. Not sure what to say about him or her. The paintings are elusive but amazing. I have a Wrinkled Old Person of Powells, it’s amazing and the most captivating of my collection.
All that aside this clown is about to bury his head in your lap and murmur/giggle as he starts to bite.
and now a hidden lazy eye watching your every move
There is a snarl under the grease
in 20 brushstrokes this portly clown comes to life with symmetrical eyes that peer out from what looks like bones assembled into a clown face.
Awww he looks like a kindly southern clown, more than happy to ferry you across the river STYX, with a tear in his eye.
Lets start this off slow. It’s nearing Halloween so I’ll do a set of Clowns and then a set of Crying Children, both genres of Black Velvet paintings.
This sad guy here is actually an amazing painting, the use of velvet chiaroscuro, the folds of the skin, to the dark under the eyes, this painting is a true black velvet, nevermind that he looks like he’s melting into something beastly against his will.
OIL ON BLACK VELVET - TWO OF ALFRED HITCHCOCK’S DOGS
WAS DESPLAYED IN ALFRED HITCHCOCK’S HOME IN L.A.
It is a original oil on velvet, commissioned by Alfred Hitchcock, and Lawrence Shelly is the artist. It was a gift from Alfred to a friend’s parents who participated in the making of “The Birds” Her parents were animal trainers and provided the birds and other animals for the movie.
This Portrait is of his two terriers that were used in the movie and is a marvelous piece that can be enjoyed for years to come. And is certainly a piece that any art collector movie memorabilia collector, or for that matter just about anyone could enjoy this piece in their collection.
So a painting ole Hitch commissioned, was given someones parents but was dEsplayed in Hitchs home. Not to mention they look nothing like Sealyham Terriers, but more like toy poodles. Also this seller is no longer around to answer questions.
$14,000..
Why? Well they are Geoffrey and Stanley, Alfred Hitchcock’s beloved dogs… or are they
[insert Cliffhanger music here]
Ummm yeah.. ok $700 for this? I mean the velvet is in good condition, but as you will see with other paintings, it’s really just a piss-ant peice of junk. The stencil is crap, look at the eyes and cheeks. Ok I’ll give the halo a A+, but lordy I wish people understood the market. Just wait till tomorrow and the next day.. how about a $14,000 Black Velvet?
kenny rogers?
New Velvet.. really not bad at all. I’m sure it’s taken more serious when stoned, but it’s cracking me up.
